Let’s march together

Deadline for participation: August 15th, 2026

The Newtown Labor Day Parade will take place on Monday, September 7th, 2026. Line-up begins at 7:30 a.m., and the parade will step off promptly at 10:00 a.m.

We will be announcing this year’s Grand Marshal and theme in June 2026.

To streamline the parade and ensure everyone’s safety, the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee asks all participants to follow these rules and regulations:

  1. Staging/arrival begins at 7:30 AM. The parade will start promptly at 10:00 AM. All participants must be ready and in position prior to the start time.

  2. Creative floats are strongly encouraged, but not required to participate. Judging and Awards will be given for Best Overall Float (Rooster Award), Best Fire Department, Best Use of Theme, and Most Patriotic.

  3. No more than three vehicles per entry is allowed (emergency vehicles excluded). If you have more than three vehicles, you must email the Committee at newtownldp@gmail.com for approval.  18-wheel vehicles are prohibited (emergency vehicles excluded)

  4. Candy and giveaways may only be distributed by walking participants and must be handed out safely — please do not throw items.

Be especially mindful of children who may run into the street to retrieve candy. Our top priority is the safety of all participants and spectators.

  5. Limit marchers to 30 participants per entry. If you will be expecting more than 30 participants, please email newtownldp@gmail.com for approval.

  6. The parade will take place rain or shine unless there is extreme weather. Please ensure participants are prepared.

  7. The parade lineup is finalized shortly after the application deadline of August 15th. The lineup will be posted on our website, our social media, and published in the Newtown Bee, no less than one week prior to the parade.

  8. The Committee will email Day of Logistics Information to the participant contact email no less than one week prior to the parade.  This will detail items such as the parade lineup, participant parking, bathroom facilities, and the division coordinator to help with day-of questions.

All participants are expected to act in a safe and respectful manner and comply with all instructions from parade officials and safety personnel.

The application for participation will be available by June 2026.
