Bill Glass Named Grand Marshal of the 64th Newtown Labor Day Parade
beloved photographer and community pillar leads this year's "Picture Perfect Parade”
The Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee is proud to announce Bill Glass as the Grand Marshal of the 64th Newtown Labor Day Parade.
Bill is one of Newtown's most familiar faces — usually found behind a camera lens, documenting the people, events, and traditions that make our community special. As photographer for the Newtown Bee, Bill makes sure Newtown's story is told, one photograph at a time. Whether it's a town celebration, a community fundraiser, a school event, a nonprofit gala, or even a team car wash, Bill is always there making sure to document the moments.
While many know Bill as the photographer, his accomplishments extend far beyond. A nationally recognized, multi-award-winning photographer, visual artist, educator, and community volunteer, Bill holds six university degrees, including a doctorate from Columbia University.
Despite an impressive career that includes serving as Danbury's Deputy Superintendent of Schools, teaching at prestigious universities, earning recognition from the United Nations, and receiving the Connecticut Educational Leader of the Year, Bill has always remained focused on what matters most: community. Through his photography, volunteer work, and countless acts of kindness, he has helped preserve Newtown's history while celebrating the people who make it such a special place to call home.
We have matched our amazing Grand Marshal with an equally fitting parade theme: "Picture Perfect Parade." For decades, Bill has stood behind the camera, capturing Newtown's picture-perfect moments and preserving the memories that tell our community's story. This year, we are honored to turn the lens around and celebrate the man who has spent so much time shining a light on everyone else. It is our privilege to recognize Bill Glass for his dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to the community he loves.
Please join us in congratulating Bill Glass, Grand Marshal of the 2026 Newtown Labor Day Parade.
